Electric Fireplaces have become very popular in recent years.  Not only has the realistic fire look improved drastically but their efficiency and heating power has grown dramatically.

For years I wanted to add a fireplace to our house.  The problem is we struggled to find anyone who knew how to do it.  The location in our home also made it very difficult to install a standard fireplace.

I dove in and began doing extensive research on electric fireplaces as a possible solution.  I discovered that the newer models were actually really good.  There were thousands of happy customers and great reviews.  We decided to build a do it yourself electric fireplace insert.  I searched long and hard for a site that gave good direction on how to build a wall or mantle for the fireplace insert without a lot of luck.  I had to piece together ideas from the few pictures I could find.

After building my own and installing it I decided to create this site to help others find good information from one source.  We will be adding new content including an actual build out with step by step instructions and reviews from what we learned about the most current electric fireplace models on the market.
